Whenever a model asks for Viking braids, I already know they’re going for that powerful, warrior-like look. I’ve done these for themed shoots, and every single time, the guys end up acting like they’re in a fantasy movie.
In my opinion, the coolest part is how customizable they are. Thick braids, smaller accents, beads—whatever fits the vibe. One of my models kept shaking his head to feel the weight of the braids, and he said it made him feel “dangerous.” To be fair, this style does take time and length, but the end result is always worth it. How to Take Down Braids Safely?

Taking down braids the right way helps prevent hair breakage and keeps your scalp healthy. A gentle removal routine ensures your hair stays smooth, soft, and easy to manage afterward.

• Oiling before removal: Apply warm coconut or olive oil to your braids to soften them and reduce friction while undoing each strand.

• Gently loosening each braid: Start from the bottom and slowly open the braid using your fingers or a pointed comb to avoid pulling or snapping the hair.

• Detangling after removal: Once all braids are out, comb your hair gently from the ends to the roots to remove knots and shed hair.

• Deep conditioning: Finish with a nourishing deep conditioner to restore moisture, smoothness, and strength after the takedown process.
